Vampire hunter Van Helsing is brought to London to end the vampiric curse. Rating: 4.8/10 Why Did I Watch It? Clips from Leslie Nielsen films have been popping up on social media, and this is one of his last major comedy movies that I hadn't seen yet, so it was time to watch it.

Rating: 8.1/10 Why Did I Watch It? A trusted friend insisted that I watch it.

First Viewing Viewing Date: January 15th Via: Disney+ Plot: Plump kids are lured into joining a posh fat camp with the promise of quick weight loss and good times, only to find that it is a woodland hellhole run by a psycho ex-fitness instructor. Rating: 6.8/10 Why Did I Watch It? I saw a TikTok video about it. After looking it up and seeing the cast, and once I saw it was on Disney+, I just right in as it looked like the perfect Sunday afternoon film.

First Viewing Viewing Date: January 15th Via: Amazon Prime Video Plot: When a diabolical pirate above the sea steals the secret Krabby Patty formula, SpongeBob and his nemesis Plankton must team up in order to get it back. Rating: 6.4/10 Why Did I Watch It? I watched the first movie, so it felt right to continue and watch the second movie.

First Viewing Viewing Date: January 14th Via: Amazon Prime Video Plot: An American scientist is sent to Scotland to prove the existence of the Loch Ness Monster. He's a sceptic who doesn't believe the monster exists, and hopes to finalise his work within a matter of days while he draws the attention, and ire, of the locals. Rating: 6.7/10 Why Did I Watch It? I recall seeing bits of this on VHS back in the '90s, and was curious to watch the full movie as an adult. It was included with the MGM channel, and thus was free.

First Viewing Viewing Date: January 14th Via: Netflix Plot: SpongeBob SquarePants takes leave from the town of Bikini Bottom in order to track down King Neptune's stolen crown in Shell City. Rating: 7.1/10 Why Did I Watch It? I've been curious about this one for years. A meme on my social media feed reminded me that it exists, so I added it to my Netflix watchlist.

First Viewing Viewing Date: January 14th Via: Cinema Plot: Otto is a grump who's given up on life following the loss of his wife and wants to end it all. When a young family moves in nearby, he meets his match in quick-witted Marisol, leading to a friendship that will turn his world around. Rating: 7.7/10 Why Did I Watch It? The original movie is excellent. I wanted to see how this remake holds up, especially due to positive audience reviews.

First Viewing Viewing Date: January 13th Via: Disney+ Plot: A young guy's only option to erase a really bad debt is to rig the Special Olympics by posing as a contestant while his uncle bets against the favourite to win. Rating: 5.9/10 Why Did I Watch It? I just wanted a lightweight, fluffy comedy movie, and I like comedies of this era.

First Viewing Viewing Date: January 13th Via: Cinema Plot: Puss in Boots discovers that his passion for adventure has taken its toll: he has burned through eight of his nine lives. Puss sets out on an epic journey to find the mythical Last Wish and restore his nine lives. Rating: 7.9/10 Why Did I Watch It? The very positive reviews made this a priority for me.

First Viewing Viewing Date: January 12th Via: Cinema Plot: A robotics engineer at a toy company builds a life-like doll that begins to take on a life of its own. Rating: 7.1/10 Why Did I Watch It? It was released today and I was keen to see it based on the good reviews.

First Viewing Viewing Date: January 12th Via: iTunes Store Plot: Krypto the Super-Dog and Superman are inseparable best friends, sharing the same superpowers and fighting crime side by side in Metropolis. However, Krypto must master his own powers for a rescue mission when Superman is kidnapped, along with the rest of the Justice League. Rating: 8.0/10 Why Did I Watch It? The cast and premise intrigued me, and the positive reviews and ratings pushed me to check it out ASAP.

First Viewing Viewing Date: January 12th Via: Netflix Plot: Enrolled in school for the first time after years with her horrible parents, Matilda finds joy in literature and learning, but the school is run by the ruthless Ms. Trunchbull. Unwilling to accept Trunchbull's bullish ways, Matilda takes a stand and starts a revolution with her fellow pupils. Rating: 6.7/10 Why Did I Watch It? I like the original movie and wanted to see what could be done with this remake. Plus, it was free on Netflix and I'm still catching up with 2022 films I've yet to see.

First Viewing Viewing Date: January 11th Via: Amazon Prime Video Plot: In 1980, a down-on-his-luck American journalist and his colleague drive to El Salvador to chronicle the events of the military dictatorship, including the assasination of Archbishop Oscar Romero. Rating: 7.2/10 Why Did I Watch It? This is another important film I wanted to watch on the MGM channel before my subscription expires.
