Viewed: Season 1 After giving up on Bates Motel back in 2013, when I only watched a couple of episodes, I have decided to return and give it another crack. The first season of the show is a promising one, with compelling stories and fine characters all-around, turning into more than "just a Psycho prequel." Both Vera Farmiga and Freddie Highmore are terrific, with the latter really showing that he has grown from a boy into a man, and pulling off the Norman Bates look with ease. I'll definitely watch the next four seasons.
